Will vanishing bees affect your Rosh Hashanah?

Bees are disappearing at an alarming rate. They are leaving their homes and not returning. While scientists remain baffled about the situation, which is being called colony collapse disorder, one thing is certain - the availability and price of honey and apples will be affected.

For some strange reason or reasons, billions of bees have vanished without a trace. It could be because of disease. It could have something to do with cell phone towers. It could be the result of pesticide poisoning. Who knows?

Those of us who use honey throughout the year and even more during Rosh Hashanah will notice additional cost increases. But honey is just the beginning - the dwindling bee population is turning into a major problem for farmers and almond growers. If there are no bees to pollinate crops like berries, melons, tomatoes and apples, we soon might see serious shortages and skyrocketing prices.

Dipping your apple

slices in honey this September might become a big ka-ching thing.
