When you’re feeling down and lonely, particularly whether you’re disabled, you can always go to The Friendship Circle in West Bloomfield and find a pal. The nonprofit organization, founded by Rabbi Levi Shemtov and his wife, Bassie, has provided programs for children with disabilities and their families since 1994… Hundreds of folks volunteer each year at The Friendship Circle, which has a staff of about 20, Cohen said. “The smile on the faces of the volunteers is equal to the smile on the faces of the children,” said Cohen.
