‘Panic’ in Tehran by Israel’s Operation Orchard in Syria

On September 6th, eight Israeli F-15i’s, an ELINT aircraft with the aid of ground commando teams may have pulled off a raid that might surpass the IAF raid on Saddam Hussein Osirak nuclear reactor near Baghdad in June, 1981. Called Operation Orchard, the IDF may have taken out significant nuclear WMD secreted in eastern Syria near the Turkish border and supplied by North Korea and perhaps, Iran. The Turks ‘protested’ finding dropped fuel tanks from the Israeli F-15i’s, but that may have been for their public consumption. Their secular military may have felt otherwise inclined. The Israelis have remained mum under official censorship, while strangely the Pentagon was left to assemble an announcement on September 11th followed by one from Secretary of State Condi Rice. So it has been left to the British press to try and put together the sketchy ‘facts’.
Ken Timmerman, noted author, journalist, American Congress for Truth (ACT) advisory board member and veteran Iran watcher and I were discussing, today, what the reaction might be in Tehran with that stunning Israeli raid. Based on his sources the word is: ‘Panic’.
The crazed mullahs and the Revolutionary Guards under orders from President Ahmadinejad shut off all newsletter access by closing down Google G mail and other World Wide Web access. soon after, Tehran put out a report that they had 500 to 600 Shehab III missiles aimed at targets
As one source, the Debkafile, reported today in a headline-this is a complete ‘bluff’. That threat may be a ‘paper tiger’ for local consumption to cover the fact that Iran, its proxies in Damascus and weapons and technology suppliers, Russia and North Korea, got trumped by US supplied F-15is equipped with Maverick missiles and 500 pound old iron bombs, piloted by some of the best air crews in the world who had some great intelligence feed.
When Ahmadinejad shows up at the U.N. General Assembly meetings in New York next week, we find a more chastened shrunken world figure. Chastened to realize that his pursuit of nuclear weapons with a possible target duration of delivery of next March, might be taken away by force. French President Sarkozy has already issued a warning about planning for a war with Iran. Doubtless, the U.S., perhaps based on Israel’s Operation Orchard success, may have the data to better plan a massive raid to take out the nuclear threat from the grasp of the Mullahs and President Ahmadinejad.
Stay tuned.
