I received that from a fellow Columbia alumnus in response to an essay I wrote on tomorrow’s appearance at my alma mater by President Ahmadinejad of Iran.

In the wake of bellicose statements and displays of Iran’s alleged military might on the eve of his departure for the U.S., I wonder why President Bollinger wants to supply a photo op and platform for the Iranian leader and lose the loyalty of alumni who would endow alma mater.

But soon after fabled CU President Nicholas Murray Butler invited Hitler to the Mornngnside Campus in 1933.

Is that an example of ‘good ideas’ besting ‘poor ones’ in the civil marketplace of academia or is it the

moral equivalent of shooting yourself in the left foot with a pistol of the right hip.

Here are the angry remarks of the Columbia alumus.

I had planned to give Columbia a professorship to honor my late father who got bachelor, masters and doctorate degrees from CU. Not a penny will Columbia get from me! I am tempted to rip up my diploma, too.

…..sadly convinced the Jews and all Western civilization are doomed by the deadly mix of Islamofascist murderous envy and our own self-destructive politicalcorrectness, liberalism, entitlement and stupidity

We don’t have to concern about al Qaeda–we’re destroying ourselves!
