Israel extended aid to victims of the Peruvian earthquake.

The Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem said Sunday that $20,000 had been sent to the Israeli Embassy in Lima in order to buy emergency provisions for victims of last week’s tremor.

Peruvians what further help could be offered by Israel, which has organized major aid airlifts and search-and-rescue teams for foreign disaster zones in the past.

Peru is a popular destination for Israeli trekkers, but none were known to be among the hundreds of people killed by Wednesday’s earthquake.
