Green is the color of choice for London’s high end schmata trade

For many millennia, fashion has been a passion for people of wealth and power. In ancient Egypt, no expense was spared on garments for those in high society. Clothes were made of the finest silk, softest wool and most comfortable cotton, and they were colored and embellished with rare and coveted materials. Even Esther, when she became a Persian
queen, would have been able to pass red carpet scrutiny.
While we all still want the latest looks and yearn to have that million-dollar appearance, we’ve become much more aware of the real cost of being cool with the fashionistas. Wearing of the green is no longer a St. Patty’s Day gimmick. Clothes made out of organic, sustainable

materials are in. And so is wearing garments that were made by workers
who are paid fairly and treated with respect.
Some of the United Kingdom’s  hottest young fashion designers are Jewish. These kids fresh out of college are introducing everything from evening gowns to casual wear that not only look great, they are eco-friendly and manufactured in compliance with fair trade policies that respect workers. They are doing a great job of balancing the demands of ecology, ethics and making great looking and feeling clothes and footwear, too.
