Is the K designation a sign of kosher food?
Thank you for your question. Although a K might be a sign of a company claim that their product is Kosher, since it is not a registered copyrighted symbol, any company can put it on without any knowledge of Kosher laws at all. It is therefore crucial to find out whether there is a Rabbi behind the K on the label, and who he is. It should not be relied on at face value.
Take care,
Rabbi Aaron Tendler
