Celebrating a Birthday

Question: Is there a tradition that forbids observance of birthdays?

Answer: I am not familiar with such a ban. It is true that Jews do not manufacture a big deal about birthdays for adults (the only mention of a birthday in the Bible is that of Pharaoh); however, I don’t see why they should not be acknowledged whether that is what the family would like to do.
